- was established in 2002 and incorporated as a non-profit organisation in 2004
- is funded through membership fees and through a mix of ESF, LSC and LEA funded projects.
- achieved Investors in People standard in 1995

- is one of the largest work based learning networks in England
- was the first north west network to receive the Skills Pledge award
