Young people considering an apprenticeship in childcare, hairdressing or business administration after they leave school are invited to an open day at tpm to meet current apprentices and see training demonstrations such as:
- basic hairdressing techniques
- using interactive dolls to practise holding infants
- communication skills through telephone training systems
In 2009 over 250 young people and their parents attended.
All training suite facilities will be open and refreshments will be served. Staff will be on hand with advice, support and guidance. Young people and parents will be able to meet employers who are kindly giving their time and expertise to support the event and chat with prospective new recruits for their businesses.
Applications will be available on the day and young people meeting the criteria will be offered interview appointments during May and June as they become eligible for work and training.
