Achievements
The significant recent achievements of the Invest to Change project include:
- Sir Peter Little, government LLDD champion met with Merseyside providers to find out and address the hurdles they face when recruiting LLDDs
- Dyslexia workshops held to support providers in the recognition, understanding and support of learners with the condition
- Accredited training course held to enable providers help learners with a disability to travel independently
- Memory sticks produced holding a wide range of essential LLDD resources for providers including up-to-date legislation, website details, useful tips
- Partnership established between learning providers and two special schools to research student needs and develop support
- First edition of a quarterly newsletter produced (Equip) outlining good practice, stories, useful links, notes on legislation
- Autism Initiatives Awareness training day for providers held on 18th March 09
- Bespoke autism sprectrum disorders training day held at Training Plus merseyside on 23rd April 09
