TPM keynote speech on success of Invest to Change project
Brian Quinn of TPM gave a keynote speech at a recent LSC conference, outlining his company’s active involvement with the Invest to Change project which was designed to improve providers’ services to young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Brian highlighted staff development as a key benefit of TPM’s participation in the Invest to Change project. Staff have completed a comprehensive programme of training in independent travel training, dyslexia recognition and analysis, barriers to learning, complex learning difficulties, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). He also outlined key improvements that have been achieved, such as 81% success rates for learners with learning difficulties in 2008-9 and the valuable work of employer and learner champions.
ASD awareness was a key feature of the workforce development undertaken by TPM in 2008-9, in collaboration with the Liverpool 14-19 Partnership and Autism Initiative’s OSSME Team. An innovative DVD Documentary Report on the activity of the collaboration was screened for the first time at the conference.
Further details and evaluation of the workforce development and capacity building activities can be found in the Greater Merseyside Invest to Change 2008-9 Project Report.
