Positive inspection results for GMLPF's APLP programme
GMLPF's Accelerated Programme Lead Pathways (APLP) programme recently underwent an Ofsted inspection. Asset Training, Alder Training, Sysco and Joint Learning were also involved in the inspections as sub-contractors to GMLPF. The inspection was a success, with the programme achieving a level 2 "good" grade overall, which included a grade one for learner satisfaction.
The APLP programme enables young people to develop technical skills before entering apprenticeships. 95 young people are currently on the programme and GMLPF are aiming to recruit a further 50 before March 2010. The pilot saw 70% of learners going onto an apprenticeship after completing the programme.
The following comments are taken from the official Ofsted inspection report on GMLPF's APLP programme:
- GMLPF provides a good range of training for subcontractors.
- Subcontractors work well together in partnership to offer learners programmes in a range of subject areas..
- Initial Assessment is used very effectively to indentify barriers and ensure the learners are on the right programme
- GMLPF subcontracts with carefully selected providers who have good Ofsted inspections grades and good achievements.
- Learners develop excellent skills valued by employers
- Learners feel safe and demonstrate good, safe working practices. Learners health and safety awareness is good and this is reinforced during the programme and on placements
- Outcomes for Learners are good
