Mode Training learners gain specialist skills for visually impaired clients
On gaining specialist blind awareness training, Mode Training are offering free cuts, colour and styling to visually impaired clients from local charity, Henshaws Society for Blind People.
The Mode team completed Visual Impairment Awareness Training (VIAT) training at Henshaws last year, to learn and develop the specialist skills, awareness and approach they would need for hairdressing clients with visual impairments.
They are believed to be the country’s first hairdressing training group to have completed and implemented this training and are set to become a benchmark for other companies.
Linda Corness from Henshaws said, “After Mode completed VIAT with us, they extended the generous offer of free styling session. The people who use our services tell us how important it is to look their best, so this relationship with Mode is just perfect. It’s already had a really good take up with six booked in next week.”
The free styling service is offered once a month on a Wednesday afternoon.
Debbie Tagoe, director at Mode Training Ltd said, “Henshaws is a charity close to our hearts, so it made sense that we support them in the way we know best. But it’s equally important that our staff and learners have the right skills to meet the needs of clients with disabilities. Henshaws have helped us to achieve a major part of this.”
Anyone with a visual impairment who wants to take advantage of the free styling should contact Linda at Henshaws on 0151 227 1226
