tpm graduates an inspiration at LLDD conference
Audiences at the Merseyside Learning for Living and Work Conference were moved to tears as Training Plus merseyside (tpm) graduates Hannah Edwards and Josh Fearon gave personal accounts of their experience as students with learning difficulties.
MHF member, tpm were invited to provide a workshop at the event, organised by the Greater Merseyside Learning and Skills Council to highlight best practice on Merseyside for learnings with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LLDD). The workshop was delivered by tpm director, Brian Quinn with staff and learners including Josh and Hannah.
Delegates at the workshop were given an insight into how tpm has developed an organisational culture that embraces LLDD through projects focussing on areas such as dyslexia and autism spectrum disorder.
tpm Director Brian Quinn commented:
"Hannah and Josh are inspirational to everyone, but especially young people with a learning difficulty; they have overcome prejudice and barriers to achieve advanced qualifications in their chosen careers. As well as talking at the conference, Hannah was filmed for the recently launched ‘i-Choose Transition’ DVD, talking about how she overcame her difficulties to inspire other young people to follow in her footsteps’
