Ongoing success for GMLPF's pre-Apprenticeships programme

As the Association of Learning Providers prepare to discuss the benefits of pre-Appenticeships with John Hayes Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, the GMLPF-managed Access to Apprenticeships programme goes from strength to strength. Two new providers, North West Training Council, and Knowsley Community College in association with Progress Sports, have joined the programme, and a leaflet (pictured right) targeting school leavers was recently produced for distribution via schools and careers advisers.
Access to Apprenticeships is a short, full time vocational programme designed to help 16 to 18 year olds get into Apprenticeships. It lasts between 16 and 34 weeks and provides work experience, skills and qualifications.
So far, the GMLPF-managed programme has seen almost 200 young people successfully go onto a full Apprenticeship, an 80% success rate. GMLPF are currently producing a paper on the benefits of the programme for the Assocation of Learning Providers to inform discussions with the Minister.
