St Helens Chamber launches new foundation degree

St Helens Chamber is launching a new foundation degree focused on the management needs of small to medium sized enterprises.

The foundation degree in leadership, innovation and management has been specially designed to support organisations that want to develop the management potential of their staff in order to address skills gaps and raise professional standards for the benefit of the business.

Delivery format

The new Foundation Degree, validated by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), will be delivered by the Chamber through monthly masterclasses, work-based learning and e-learning. The course is designed to fit around the demands of the workplace and students will be able to access LJMU’s online learning resources and library services. Successful students will also have the opportunity to continue to study for a BA with LJMU’s Department of Business and Law.

Content

The Degree will concentrate on skills that are seen as critical to modern business environments and will provide a natural progression for learners to progress into Higher Education following the achievement of a NVQ level 4. As well as learning how to develop their own skills and those of their colleagues, students will be encouraged to think about creativity and adaptability and will also learn about employment law and finance.

Christine Barton, Training Services Manager at St Helens Chamber, says:

“The unique aspect of this qualification is that it will focus on the specific needs of each student’s business by concentrating on individual solutions for their organisation. It is project-led and so will identify issues facing the business and then seek to address them so that students can gain a valuable qualification and develop their business at the same time.”
