2011/12 contract confirmed for GMLPF's successful Access to Apprenticeships
YPLA has confirmed a contract for GMLPF to continue running its successful Access to Apprenticeships programme from July 2011 to July 2012.
Access to Apprenticeships is a short, full-time vocational programme designed to put young people in prime position to apply for an Apprenticeship and succeed at interview. It lasts between 16 and 34 weeks and provides valuable work experience, skills, qualifications, advice and support.
The new contract confirms a third year of GMLPF running the programme. At the end of the last year, 82% of young people who went on Access to Apprenticeships went onto a full apprenticeship,
Access to Apprenticeships manager, Joanne Rymer is confident about the continued success of the programme:
" Figures so far for 2010/11 are showing that we are well on target for success this year. But more importantly, we know that the success on paper mirrors a more meaningful success: young people actually changing the direction of their lives thanks to Access to Apprenticeships, which has given them the qualifications, experience and confidence required to secure an apprenticeship position. Confirmation of our contract for next year means we can continue helping this cohort, and we hope to expand the range of training available."
GMLPF runs the Access to Apprenticeships programme via a number of work-based learning providers:
Alder Training, Asset Training,
Aigburth Training Opportunities,
Joint Learning Partnership, Knowsley Community College in partnership
with Progress Sports, NWCS,
Riverside Learning and Education Centre, Sysco.
