ATO expansion of onsite nursery enhances opportunities for learner training

Aigburth Training Opportunities (ATO) has opened an additional room in its on-site nursery Little Explorers. The nursery can now accommodate 27 children aged 0-5 years and a further 8 children in its after school and holiday club.

The nursery offers high quality care facilities for pre-school children but also plays a key role in the training of young people on childcare apprenticeships with ATO. The nursery's expansion enhances the learner provider's capacity to provide practical working environments for its apprentices, as Jeanette O’Brien, the charity’s CEO describes:

“We use the onsite nursery as a means of familiarising our learners with a childcare environment. They are then well-prepared for what to expect and what is expected of them when they go out on external work placements. This stands them in excellent stead for progressing onto an Apprenticeship.

A community-focused childcare training provider, ATO, offers young people high-quality training services in a caring and supportive context. Under the guidance of Jeanette, it has built an outstanding track record in encouraging and supporting its learners to progress onto Higher Education. ATO apprentices have progressed onto Diplomas in Nursing, Diplomas in Midwifery, Foundation Degrees in Early Years Management, and BA Honours degrees in Childcare and Youth.
