Mode Training director takes the reins at Liverpool Provider Network

Debbie Tagoe, director of Mode Training, has been elected chair of the Liverpool Provider Network (LPN).

Debbie steps up to her new post armed with a wealth of experience in the world of work-based learning. As a long term LPN member and director of a well-respected training company, Debbie is in prime position to lead the strategic development of local training provision to meet the needs of businesses, schools and young people.

“It’s a real privilege to be elected chair of such a proactive and proficient group of work-based learning gurus. All LPN’s members are incredibly experienced and fully equipped to raise local skills standards. I look forward to working with them to drive our industry forward and am fully committed to shaping our collective offer to best meet the needs of employers and young people.”

LPN is a collaboration of 21 Liverpool work based learning providers who meet monthly to share best practice and develop joint strategies for training delivery. Their areas of joint expertise include:

  • training trends in local industry sectors
  • what training programmes employers prefer and what their issues and concerns are
  • the planning and implementation of government funded training
  • barriers to success and how to overcome them
  • issues of equality, diversity, social inclusion, and safeguarding of young people
  • how training initiatives can be linked together for maximum impact

Current LPN members are: Aigburth Training Opportunities, Alder Training, Andrew Collinge, Herbert of Liverpool Training, JHP Training Apprenticeships, Michael John of Liverpool, Mode Training, North Liverpool Regeneration Company, North West Community Services, North West Training Council, Oakmere Community College, Progress Sports, Rathbone, Riverside Learning & Education Centre, Rocket Training, Sysco Business Skills Academy and tpm (Training Plus merseyside).

Through its members, LPN offers a range of training courses including Apprenticeships, NVQs, Foundation Learning, and programmes for schools pupils. As a network they also offer a range of consultancy services such as providing strategic and practical advice for training initiatives, establishing pilot training projects, and providing advice on social inclusion, engaging hardest to help learners, and provision for learners with learning difficulties or disabilities.

Debbie takes over from the departing chair, Paul Feaver of Riverside LEC. Alison Gibson of Michael John of Liverpool remains as deputy chair.
