OBE for Peter Collinge

Liverpool’s Peter Collinge, hairdresser and founder of one of the UK’s most respected hairdressing companies, has been awarded an OBE for services to the hairdressing industry.
Peter founded his business over 60 years ago with hair salons and barber shops throughout the northwest in Liverpool, Chester, Manchester and Lancashire. The company’s training side has trained thousands of young stylists over the years. Their commitment to young people continues today with around 100 new stylists serving apprenticeships each year.
“I have been hairdressing for 70 years; I paid 25 guineas for an apprenticeship when I started in hairdressing and it has been a wonderful career for me. It's a good, strong trade, and my family is proud to have trained so many young people." says Peter
Peter Collinge was known as Liverpool’s hippest hairdresser in the 60s and 70s, responsible for bringing many innovative ideas into the world of hairdressing. Today he remains the chairman of the company, now called Andrew Collinge Hairdressing after his son who is also a very well-known and respected stylist.
Peter said “It was a great surprise and a great honour to hear that I would be receiving an award!”
