Michael John Academy founder going back to the floor for Apprenticeships Week
Michael Heath, founder of Michael John Academy, is going “back to the floor” in Kerrie Harris Hair Salon on Aigburth Road, to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2012.
35 years ago Michael established a training academy to support both young people and their employers entering the hairdressing profession. Much has changed since, however the basics remain the same - equipping the future stylists with the skills needed to gain and maintain employment in the industry.
Michael will be working with Mellissa Greaves, a hairdressing apprentice employed by Kerrie Harris Hair Salon who attends the Academy for her training. All apprenticeships include both on and off-the-job training.
‘It will be a pleasure to work with Melissa in the Kerrie Harris Hair Salon. Its many years since I completed my own apprenticeship, there are some things that haven’t changed though; – shampooing, supporting the stylists and making tea for clients.’ Said Michael.
Kerrie Harris commented ‘I am delighted that Michael has chosen to come back to the floor and work in our salon. We have a fantastic working relationship with the team at Michael John Academy. I’ll be keeping an eye on Michael to check that he pulls his weight and delivers the high standard of service that our clients expect!’
