16 to 18 Traineeship delivery opportunity

After what seems an age, ESFA is offering the opportunity for additional and new providers to apply to deliver 16 to 18 traineeships. The window is open from 29 September 2021 to 22 October 2021.

ESFA wants to increase the opportunities available to 16 to 18-year-olds who would benefit from a traineeship programme. This will help the Government hit its ambition of trebling the number of Traineeship volumes. ESFA are offering providers the opportunity to apply for a standalone traineeship contract to deliver traineeships to 16 to 18-year-olds. The new contracts are worth up to £300,000 per provider and are on standard terms, subject to meeting the relevant eligibility criteria.

Traineeships delivered under the new contracts are exclusively for 16 to 18-year-olds. This is an opportunity for members and can only help build upon our leading position nationally regarding Traineeship delivery.

To apply for a new Traineeship contract, you must meet the eligibility criteria, be an existing provider. You must submit a full application by 5 pm on 22 October 2021 to be considered for a contract.

The deadline of 5 pm on 22 October 2021 is final, and ESFA will not accept any applications received after the deadline. We recommend you submit your application in advance to avoid any delay or failure to complete the application correctly and on time.

If you’re eligible and would like to apply, please use this link 16 to 18 traineeship market entry – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) to access the 16 to 18 Market Entry request form.

In response to this market entry opportunity, GMLPF (through the Provider Improvement Fund) will deliver a short session to walk through the process. The session is on 11 October at 10.00 am. You can register below to attend this session if you are a GMLPF member or employed by a learning provider based in Liverpool City Region.
